This policy explains how New Thing Day ("we", "us") collects and uses your personal data when you visit newthingday.com or contact us through this site. We are the "data controller" for this information under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect and why

When you fill in our contact form we collect the details you provide — your name, your shop name and location, and your email address. We use these solely to respond to your enquiry and to discuss whether New Thing Day is a fit for your business.

Our lawful basis for this is legitimate interests — namely responding to merchants who ask to hear from us and pursuing potential business relationships. Where you have completed and submitted the form, this can also be understood as steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract. You are never required to provide this data, but we can't respond to an enquiry without it.

Our contact form and HubSpot

Our contact form is provided by HubSpot, a customer relationship management platform, which acts as a "data processor" on our behalf. Submissions are stored in our HubSpot account so we can manage and reply to them. HubSpot may process data outside the UK; where it does, this is covered by HubSpot's data processing terms and appropriate safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum / Standard Contractual Clauses). When you submit the form, your details are sent directly to HubSpot. We do not load HubSpot's tracking or form-embed scripts, so using our contact form sets no cookies on your device. If a submission cannot be sent for any reason, the form falls back to opening a pre-addressed message in your own email application instead.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies — none for tracking, analytics, or advertising, and none from HubSpot. Because nothing on the site requires your consent to store data on your device, there is no cookie banner and nothing for you to accept or decline.

How long we keep your data

We keep enquiry data for no longer than necessary — typically 12 months from our last contact with you — after which it is deleted or anonymised, unless we have an ongoing business relationship or a legal reason to retain it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with HubSpot as described above, and with service providers or authorities where we are legally required to.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased, to restrict or object to our processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email [email protected].

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to address your concerns first, though.
